Established in 2011, MABIA-Ghana was founded with two clear objectives: to respond to the pressing health needs of underserved communities and to help bridge the persistent development gap between Northern and Southern Ghana. Over the years, we have become a trusted advocate and service provider, working to ensure that every woman and girl has access to quality, life-saving, and rights-based sexual and reproductive healthcare. Across Northern Ghana, many women and girls continue to face barriers to their health and wellbeing due to harmful social norms, deeply rooted cultural practices, gender inequality, limited access to quality healthcare, and widespread poverty. These challenges contribute to preventable maternal illness and death, unsafe abortion, child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), obstetric fistula, and low uptake of essential reproductive health services. At MABIA-Ghana, we are committed to transforming these realities. Through community engagement, health education, advocacy, capacity building, research, and direct service delivery, we empower women, girls, families, and communities to make informed decisions about their health and rights. We also work closely with government institutions, healthcare providers, educational institutions, traditional and religious leaders, and development partners to strengthen health systems and influence policies that promote equity and social justice. Our interventions support the prevention and management of unsafe abortion complications, obstetric fistula, female genital mutilation (FGM), breast and cervical cancers, adolescent pregnancy, child marriage, gender-based violence, and other reproductive health challenges. We believe that every woman and girl deserves to live a healthy, dignified, and empowered life, regardless of where she lives or her socioeconomic status.
