Welcome to MABIA-Ghana
MABIA-Ghana is an indigenous Ghanaian non-profit organization committed to promoting Sexual and Reproductive health and Rights {SRHR) of vulnerable populations particularly women, young girls, and children in the three northern regions.
MABIA-Ghana was founded in 2011 first to respond to the health needs of under-served communities; and second to contribute to bridging the widening development gap between the north and the south. In northern Ghana, SRHR of women and young girls are negatively affected by harmful social norms, and obsolete cultural belief systems which are widely held across communities. In addition, majority of the inhabitants live in abject poverty and young girls are often forced out of school into early marriage. MABIA-Ghana’s focus therefore, is to advocate for sound policies, and provide support for those suffering from complications of unsafe abortion, obstetric fistula, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and Breast and Cervical Cancers.
